Andrea Burd: Hope for Reconstructive Surgery
Donation protected
This is Andrea, she is a 30 years old single mother of three: Anavah (9), Ziva (8), and Collin (6). Due to a life altering car accident two years ago, she can no longer walk without assistance or live without terrible constant pain.
Two years ago, on her way to pick kids up from school, Andrea was rear ended by a driver who was neither in his own car nor did he have insurance. There was no recourse that she could take to get assistance for her injuries.
Andrea was a ballet teacher then, now she can no longer dance or teach due to crippling pain and loss of mobility. This has left her without the ability to work a job to support her young family.
Andrea ended up with a fractured spine, bulging and herniated discs, and Tarlov cysts (aneurisms on the sacral nerve and spinal cord). This rare and debilitating condition spiraled quickly into her inability to stand or walk without supportive assistance (let alone bend or lift) and since that day she has lived with intense debilitating pain: pain that would be appropriate for narcotic prescriptions, however she refuses to take them so that she can be fully present with her children.
Due to this pain and lack of mobility, Andrea is unable to lay down in a bed to sleep, walk without support, bend, do housework on her own, or pick up and hold her children. Things like doing laundry, going grocery shopping, or getting down on the floor to play with her children come at a great and painful expense.
Andrea has found a doctor in Dallas, Texas who specializes in a specific surgical treatment designed to make her life more normal and relieve most of her pain. After consulting with this doctor, Andrea has been deemed an appropriate candidate for this surgery. Unfortunately her insurance will not cover this procedure out of state, and this rare surgery is not performed in Ohio.
The hospital will not schedule this surgery without it being paid in full, so we hope to help her raise this quickly so she can schedule for early 2020.
Please know that helping Andrea will become a ripple effect. When you touch her life, you will touch the lives of others, and your gift will be far reaching.
Please consider donating. Knowing that Andrea has the opportunity to walk again, brings her and us all so much hope for this tragedy to be made right. Every gift makes a difference! If you cannot give finacially, will you please consider sharing her story?
All funds will go straight to the doctors, hospital, and recovery.
Finally, please join us in praying for Andrea's healing, for financial provision, and for strength for her and her precious children as they continue this journey.
With much gratitude,
~Andrea's Family
