Help Andrea stay housed to write The Kindness Chronicles

I’m Andrea Reynolds, a 75-year-old, single female with no partner or children. My skills are writing books, editing, and marketing experts, but these are not needed in the retirement community where I now live, so I am my only client.

Back Story
I sold my restored bungalow in Erie Pennsylvania to a disabled veteran at a $40,000 loss and moved 1200 miles to Sun City Center, Florida at the invitation of a man I’d known off-and-on since we were 15 in high school. He convinced me we would marry and travel as I wrote more books. Soon we found our relationship goals didn’t match. Not knowing where to go, with no ability to rent or get a mortgage, I used 80% of my savings to pay cash for an affordable 1-bedroom condo. That was 5.5 years ago.

My savings will be gone by mid-February (edited: to May 1st, 2025) and then I’ll be unable to pay my condo fees, electricity, and other living expenses. Because I have too few US work credits I am not eligible for Social Security. (See update: I now get $220 thanks to help from my congressman. I do have a tiny pension from Canada but it covers only 60% of my condo fees and electricity. I’m very frugal, but I need an extra $500 a month to break even.

I prefer to work to generate income than depend on government assistance, so, having exhausted all other avenues, I will write and publish six more new books, most are short, how-to books.

The Kindness Chronicles is the true account of my 25-year-kindness experiment, as I drove my red cargo van through Ontario, Pennsylvania, Virginia, and North Carolina doing good deeds. I wanted to see how people would treat an older single woman. Many people chose to be heroes, and, despite having told people I would be writing about them, many people chose to act against their own best interests. I share lessons learned.

I will also write and publish Be An Angel, a checklist of gifts and solutions to offer people who are facing financial hardship and homelessness. We need this now after so much loss after fires and hurricanes.

My offer:
  • If you donate at least $10 here, you will receive installments (chapters) of my book, The Kindness Chronicles, as I write them. You can read a sample chapter here: https://www.thekindnesschronicles.com/sample.html
  • I will need your email address to send them to you.
  • Send it to me via [email redacted]

If you donate more than $10 here you may choose from any digital books I’ve already written which are listed on my website: https://www.aplacetowrite.org/currenttitles.html
I will need your email address to send them to you.
Send it to me via [email redacted]

My goal here is only $2,000 (edited from 1,000). That will keep me housed two more months, until mid-April.

Staying in my condo for a few more months will also allow me time to sell off many of my belongings – it’s called death cleaning – as I get a book or two on Amazon. You can find what I’m selling and giving away here: https://www.andreasestate.com I can ship anything that is not breakable and not terribly heavy, for what it costs via USPS.

What else?

• If funds allow I could afford $4,550 for book cover designs, ISBN numbers for digital books, and copyright registration. I have written 20 more short books waiting to be published.

• If funds allow I could afford the additional $4,400 needed to replace the double doors and windows at the back of my 800-square-foot condo, damaged in the October storm that my insurance doesn’t fully cover.
Edited to add: I was able to have them repaired rather than replaced.

• If funds allow I could afford $6,000 to repair my inoperable 21-year-old blue camper van in storage so I would have transportation to get to doctor appointments without having to ask for rides. (There’s no public transportation system in this small community.) At minimum it needs 3 new batteries and 6 new tires. And if I fail to generate income, this van will become my next home, so I keep it as a backup.

I want to thank you for helping me get past this life hurdle. All donors of any amount who provide their names will be acknowledged inside The Kindness Chronicles. And yes, in the past I have been a donor to a few GoFundMe campaigns.
