Andrea LeClair’s Fighting Chance
Donation protected
Everyone has that one beautiful friend who puts everyone else ahead of themselves, who is selfless, loves life and brings light to everything she does. This is Andrea.
She’s an amazing mother, wife, daughter, sister, aunt and best friend. She never asks others for anything. She’s the one always doing things for others. It’s our turn to help her out and show her how much we appreciate her. My name is Lisa Santandrea and I have been so lucky to have been friends with Andrea for over 20 years. On behalf of everyone who loves Andrea, I am asking for your help in raising money to pay for her life saving treatment.
Her Story #andreawins
Andrea is a 20 year previvor of hereditary cancer. After over a year and a half of trying to seek help for her symptoms, she fell through many cracks in our health care system during Covid times. Unfortunately, many doctor's visits were zoom calls and prescriptions were emailed on less serious causes of her symptoms. This eventually led her to the Emergency room a few times with severe symptoms and she became severely anemic. She needed a few blood transfusions, was admitted, and finally diagnosed with Stage 4 Metastatic Cervical Cancer.
She started radiation and chemo in August and will continue with Chemo for 6 months. The survival rate for stage 4 metastatic cervical cancer is 10%. Her oncologist suggested a new immunotherapy drug that can increase her chances of survival. This drug called Pembrolizmab by Keytruda, is approved and covered by OHIP for other cancers but has just finished clinical trials for cervical cancer. Because of this, it will not be covered by OHIP for a few years and unfortunately is not covered by her insurance either. The treatment is $10,000 every 3 weeks for up to two years. The treatment which gives Andrea her best outcome needs to be paid for out of pocket. Each round of immunotherapy costs $10 000. All funds raised will be going to pay for the treatment that gives Andrea her best chance at being a survivor again. #andreawins
How you can help
With Andrea and her family’s permission, I have started this GoFundMe page in order to help out financially with the treatment costs. If we can raise enough funds to pay for even one treatment, it will make a huge difference. The financial support is required immediately as her treatments have already begun.
All donations can be made through the Gofundme page or arrangements for cash or cheque donations can be made by contacting me, Lisa.
Her family and friends send a HUGE thank you in advance to everyone who took the time to read her story, donate and/or shares this page with others. Your support is appreciated, more then you will ever know. #andreawins
