Right now I'm looking to raise $4,000 for my trip--that covers gear (did you know thru-hikers go through roughly four pairs of shoes over the course of the 2,190 mile hike?!), food (SIX THOUSAND CALORIES A DAY,) transportation (in an effort to minimize my exposure to other hikers and impact on the trail, I’m doing what’s called “flip-flopping”—starting the hike at Harper’s Ferry, WV toward the northern terminus at Mt. Katahdin in Maine, then shuttling back to WV to proceed southbound toward Springer Mountain in Georgia) and any unforeseen emergency expenses.
I know, it's a lot. Gulp. And we've all had a heck of a year, so please know I *get it* if all you have to spare is 50 cents to help me buy some peanuts. Any bit of help means the world to me, especially since this trip is such a big personal milestone (I'm turning thirty this year!) And as itchy-uncomfortable as asking for money makes me feel, my gut tells me there are a number of you blessed souls who love me and are just waiting for the ask.
So, here we go!
