Nick is 28 years old. A loving Dad and husband to two young children. He is married to Lauren and has worked at Anheuser Busch for 4 years in Fort Collins. On June 21, 2019, Nick went to work like he always did but noticed that both feet were tingling when he awoke. As the day progressed, his left leg became increasing heavy and numb and had to leave work immediately. Over the next 4 days, his paralysis got worse and now includes everything below the belly button. He has some movement on his right leg but not much. He also has excruciating back pain from the initial onset.
Ultimately, he was taken to the VA hospital in Aurora where he is currently receiving excellent care. Nick was diagnosed with Guillain-Barre's Syndrome; Acute Inflammatory Demyelinating Polyneuropathy (GBS:AIDP). This is an autoimmune reaction that ANYONE can get after either a minor viral or bacterial infection but is still pretty rare (approx 0.4 to 1.7 per 100,000 in the population). He has started Immunoglobulin therapy which should help the recovery but this is a very long and slow process. They estimate that the recovery can be from months to years and there is no guarantee that there will be 100% return of function/feeling. We have no idea when Nick will be able to work again. His wife Lauren is a full time stay at home Mom to take care of their young children. Ruby is 5 and Gabriel is 3 years old. They have no other source of income at this point.
I am asking for your help with any amount that you can to help this young family. The last thing I want them to worry about is money. They are going through so much at this point, any extra money would greatly help them out. I don't want them to lose their home.
Nick also proudly served in the US Army from 2011-2015 in Fort Benning, GA-OSUT Training and Airborne school. JBER, AK-airborne infantry 1-501 Parachute Infantry Regiment (PIR).
A HUGE thank you to anyone that helps them out!
