Andre Dobson Memorial Band Scholarship

Andre Dobson passed away on December 9th after a brief battle with Covid-19. Andre was a gentle soul who brightened the world around him and everyone he came in contact with. He grew up in Elkin, NC and attended Elkin High School, graduating in 1994.
One of Andre’s loves was music. He played in the Elkin Marching band for 5 years and was its drum major his senior year. He also played in the pep band for varsity basketball games, and in countless church ensembles. Andre loved being part of a band, any band. And people loved playing with Andre.
We are attempting to set up an annual scholarship at Elkin High School in Andre’s memory. The Scholarship would be given annually to a senior member of the EHS band program who exemplifies a love of music and a camaraderie with their fellow musicians. It is our hope we can raise enough to make this a perpetual scholarship under the control of the EHS fine arts program. In this way, we can create a living memorial for Andre that will continue for years to come.
