Andie's spinal surgery
My amazing daughter, Andie is 17yrs old, going on 20 :)
She has been a fighter from day one, when she was born 7 weeks premature. She has been brave and strong willed, throughout her life. When she was just 4, her dad left for his first of four 12month+ deployments overseas. Through each separation she struggled but always stayed the sweet, amazing young lady she still is today.
Her back had been bothering her for sometime, and wasn't sleeping well. Then you could see it in her posture, and how she would move around. After scans and a appt. with her pediatric surgeon, we found out she has severe scoliosis, X-ray below from last month. Her top curve is 52* and bottom curve is 45* She has already lost range of motion. Her curve is only going to get worse, as she is still growing. She is scheduled to have a spinal fusion surgery, in addition to rods and screws, in January. It's going to be a long road to full recovery, but she will be better in the end!
