I am Deidre's aunt. I recently received a text from Deidre about her sweet daughter, Andi. I felt it was very important to get this information out to all their friends and family.
A couple of months ago, Deidre and Hugo were informed that their oldest daughter, Andi, has a mass on her pancreas and were referred to a pediatric specialist in Salt Lake City. Andi and Hugo flew down to Salt Lake for the biopsy, and she was diagnosed with a rare solid pseudo papillary tumor. While this type of tumor is typically slow-growing and considered low-malignant, it still requires a very serious and complex surgery called a Whipple procedure to remove the tumor.
Andi's surgery is scheduled for March 4th, in Salt Lake City, Utah. It will be a pretty intense surgery, and recovery will be a slow process, especially the first couple of months.
Hugo and Deidre are so grateful for the love, prayers, and support they have received so far. If you have been wondering or worrying, please know Andi is doing well and is still her goofy, sweet self.
Updates will be shared when available. The family would like to thank everyone for keeping sweet Andi and her family in your thoughts. Prayers for a successful surgery and smooth recovery would be very appreciated.
