We - the Andes Dance Collective - are seeking support for Delaware County's 1st Dance Film Festival & Workshop, Aug 14-Sept 4. With 4 events in 4 locations, the Festival continues our mission to bring dance as an art form to the Catskills. All events are free and open to the public. Everyone is welcome!
We're proud of the success we have had with local grants, but we have further to go to fully cover expenses. Your contribution of any amount will enable us to bring our creative work to the local community and Delaware County visitors.
After a long year, we are happy to once again present live dance to our audiences! We're bringing the work to you on 4 weekends in 4 unique venues: Bloomville - August 14, Roxbury - August 21, Delhi - August 28, and Andes - September 4. Each event features a wonderful line up of dance films by renowned and emerging filmmakers, and live performances by members of the Andes Dance Collective. A special feature is our film WIND WIDE ENOUGH - an impressionistic meditation on landscapes, identities, and states of mind - created during the 2020 COVID isolation by filmmaker Torkil Stavdal, composer Marshall Coid and dancer/choreographers Vicky Lundell, Columbine Macher, Gloria McLean and David Capps.
The Festival also offers a Dance and Filmmaking Workshop, inviting participants to explore the intersection of Dance, Film, Music, and Environment. The workshop takes place each weekend on Saturday and Sunday, 1-5 pm in Andes. A final celebratory event on September 4 will present the short films created by Workshop participants and an Interactive LIVE Dance-Film-Music performance. Open to all ages 14+, no experience needed. Your donations will also support scholarships for the workshop.
The Festival represents our most ambitious project to date. It involves the collaboration of 25+ artists and technicians in the 4 separate venues. We have received the seed money through a Delaware County Arts Grant, administered by the Roxbury Arts Group. Additional funding has come from the Delaware County Tourism Grant, and through the Community Foundation for South Central New York, and the A. Lindsey and Olive B. O’Connor Foundation.
Our goal is to raise an additional $3,000 dollars between now and the end of the Festival on September 4. Your support helps us cover artist fees, including Guest Filmmaker fees, Space Rental, lighting designer, tech support, equipment rental, insurance, Workshop supplies, advertising, scholarships -- need we say more?
We thank you for helping us bring more magic to the Catskills. Any amount is most gratefully received.
Thank you,
The Andes Dance Collective
