Yes, we did made the goal of $5k BUT...we're not there yet! We still have a loooong way to go. So far, 20 students are covered, leaving 66 kids waiting for your help! We can't just stop now...Please continue to share our story and make this adventure a possibility for ALL of our kids!
Science camp is a Rite of Passage for 5th graders, an experience kids remember for the rest of their lives.
Unfortunately, many of the students at Anderson Elementary School, here in San Jose, may never get the chance to have that experience. Simply put, they just can't afford it.
For many kids at Anderson, going to Science Camp means having 3 meals a day, their very own bed to sleep in, a safe, quiet space away from their reality.
I've put together a fund raiser here at GoFundMe.com - I'm asking you to please donate what you can, from $10 to however much you can swing. I get it, who has a bunch of 'extra money' laying around? Believe me, if I could do this myself, I would in a heartbeat, but I can't and I need your help. I am doing what I can, I'm giving up my morning Starbucks for the next few weeks. That's about $275 bucks folks!
This year and last, our students had the opportunity to join the rest of the schools in this area to attend a quality WOLFE School Program. Simply put, this camp costs $300 per student. For these families, that amout of money is an enormous sum. These families work multiple jobs just to make ends meet, to make sure there is enough food on the table. Around here, hungry kids is a reality, science camp is a dream.
Please take a moment to consider this need. And if you or your own kids have great memories from science camp, please consider making a donation to ensure that these 5th graders get the chance to create their own memories for themselves. It truly is a once in a lifetime opportunity. Some of these kids have never even been on a hike!
It doesn't have to be much. (Or it can be. Totally up to you.) But every dollar counts and it all adds up. Even something as simple as sharing this campaign helps a whole lot.
Whatever you can do, please do it and let's get these incredible, deserving kids off to science camp where they belong.
Science camp is Nov. 1st-4th 2016 @ WOLFE School-Monte Toyon near Santa Cruz.
A sincere heartfelt thank you,
