Andante needed life saving emergency surgery

I have started this go found me in hope that some kind souls out there will help me and my family with paying our veterinary bill after our beloved family dog, 4 years old Andante, decided it was a good idea to eat a large rock as a snack ( I know Labrador's are known for eating everything, but a large rock ?!? )

unfortunately my family did not have any insurance on Andante when this happened, because as with so many other people, money have been pretty tight lately. So the whole bill have to be paid out of our pocket, which we sadly can't afford right now.

This is what have happened so far

Over the weekend Andante got ill quickly with throwing up and nor being herself. After the weekend we rushed her to the vet where they did an X-Ray trying to find out what she had eaten and where in the system it was. They quickly saw an unknown object stuck in her small intestine. At first the vet wasn't sure what the object was, because they thought it looked too big to be a rock. So, they gave her some contrast fluid to make it easier to see and sent her home for it to work overnight. The next day, it was back again for another X-Ray and the vet did conclude that to everyones surprise it was a big rock and she required emergency surgery to remove it, because the rock was blocking her whole system and there was no way she would be able to pass the rock herself and her life was in danger. Andante would not have survived without her surgery.

The surgery luckily went well and the vet removed a 3cm big rock.

Andante got sent home to relax and recover after her surgery. And my family got a pretty high vet bill.

The first night at home went well consider the circumstances. Andante was very tired and slept a lot but started to eat a bit and seemed like she was doing okay.

On Thursday (31/08) things took a turn to the worse and Andante had to be rushed back to the vet. She got admitted due to an infection. Our little princess had gotten peritonitis after her surgery. So she had to be rushed to Fredrikstad animal hospital for another surgery and the best care possible.

After the surgery was done, the lovely people at Fredrikstad Animal Hospital called and let us know the surgery went well. Andante's peritonitis turned out to be so severe, she would most likely not have survived if she hadn't gotten proper treatment as fast as she did.

The next few days will be critical, but she will stay at the animal hospital for continuous care and antibiotic treatment. So she will get the best care possible and we hope she will make it through and come home to us as the happy go lucky little princess she is ❤️

Friday (01/09)

Andante have made it through the night but have had unstable periods, but are being followed up closely by a veterinarian. As of now she is stable and we hope it will continue like this. She have gotten a urinary catheter and stent and are going to get some bloodwork done today. She will stay at the animal hospital at least until over the weekend. This will make the bills grow bigger, but she have been such a brave little girl and done so well so far so we are ready to do whatever it takes to get her through this too ❤️

I will keep posting updates as we get them.

I will also like to add on the end, that both me and the rest of my family have a huge heart for animals and we have been doing active voluntary work for the Norwegian Society for Protection of Animals as foster home for cats. So we have decided if we have any money left from the donations after the bills are paid, we will donate everything that's left to Lisa Klinikken i Oslo, which is a free animal clinic that help out pet owners who can't afford treatment for their pets at a normal veterinarian.
