And still! 20.000 km from North to Soutamerica

Donation protected

My name is Darius Braun and I start on 18.07.2022 my adventure, in where I will ride over 20,000 km along the Panamericana by bike.

The special thing about my tour is not only the adventure, it is the story and the intention behind the tour.

As a former braintumorsurvivor I want to motivate people with my motto "...and still"  to believe in themselves and prove that everything can be possible.

All donations that exceed my required budget will be donated 100% to the German Brain Tumor Society.

What is the project about?

Cycling the Panamericana - a distance of over 20,000 kilometers from North to South America - is a risky but exciting project for intrepid and adventurous people.

For me, this project is much more than just an adventure. Apart from the fact that I want to make it at all, I want to get the message out to the world that it is worth believing in yourself, no matter how hopeless a situation may seem.

And by that I don't mean the hardships of the cycling adventure that await me, but rather that journey of suffering that lies behind me
and that I have already overcome.

After a brain tumor operation at the age of 15, I was completely paralyzed on the left side, could no longer walk, had speech and concentration problems. I was lucky to be able to start a new life at all. Even my family would have considered it completely illusory at that time that I would ever be able to make such a journey again. At that time, there was no prospect whatsoever of being able to even remotely match my earlier successes as a competitive athlete.

In the course of my recovery, I worked hard on myself and today I feel very well prepared to set out on the great adventure. With my motto "And still" I want to show and prove as a former brain tumor patient that it is important not to give up and that everything can be possible!

With this extraordinary cycling adventure I want to realize my biggest life dream, which I have had since childhood. My goal is to gain experience for myself personally and share it with the world. With this I hope to inspire and encourage people in difficult life situations, who may have a similar fate as me, to believe in themselves and to realize their dreams.

Film project

On my journey I want to visit hospitals and rehabilitation centers, get in touch with homeless people and always have an open ear for the needs of the people.

Above all, I am curious to see what this trip will do to me and whether I will still be the same person afterwards? How will the tour change me?

To observe this, I will keep a video diary by recording my thoughts and impressions. In addition, in a travel blog and other social media channels will continuously report on my trip.

From all these impressions, interactions and experiences, a documentary film will be created by the production company: Bernsteinfilm .

Target group

With my bike tour, I want to bring the topic of brain tumors into the focus of the public in order to create more awareness for this terrible disease. At the same time, I would like to encourage people to donate to the German Brain Tumor Society (Deutsche Hirntumorhilfe) through my project. This will enable those affected to get the resources they need to fight the disease.

The target group of my project are people who find it important to support people with special challenges. Above all, I want to address people with limitations in life, but also all those who have lost faith in themselves.

Even if the situation seems hopeless, I want to encourage you to always make the best of the situation. :)

Why support the project?

With my tour I not only want to fulfill my life's dream, but also make the world a little bit better. I do this by telling my story, encouraging people in hopeless situations and giving them an open ear.

My project is a non-profit enterprise to create awareness for the topic of brain tumors and to support the German Brain Tumor Society (Deutsche Hirntumorhilfe).

After I had my brain tumor surgery 17 years ago, my family and I faced unprecedented challenges that turned not only my life, but also my family's life upside down. At that time, the German Brain Tumor Society (Deutsche Hirntumorhilfe) was still in its infancy and had limited support options. Today, this has already developed significantly. Nevertheless, it is necessary to do even more research in this area and provide funds to help patients faster and better.

My family and I would have been extremely grateful 17 years ago if we had this support back then. So that people who today have a similar fate as I do, I would like to help them as much as I can through my tour.

To make my project possible and to support the German Brain Tumor Society (Deutsche Hirntumorhilfe) adequately, I depend on your help.

Brain tumors are the most common tumor disease in children under the age of 15 and the second most common cause of death from cancer after leukemia.

The German Brain Tumor Society (Deutsche Hirntumorhilfe) is a non-profit organization (NPO) that has been working to promote neuro-oncology and improve care for brain tumor patients since 1998. It is independent and operates nationwide. The patient is the focus of its work, which is financed solely by donations. The higher the amount of donations, the more projects for brain tumor patients can be supported and realized.

Film project

As described before, I will get in touch with the people on site and record my encounters videographically. For this I need your support, for example for interpreters and for further upcoming costs.

What happens with the money?

So far, I have financed the entire project from my own funds. Except for my sponsored bike and smaller equipment I don't have enough sponsors yet. Therefore I need YOU!

You can become part of the project this way.

To make And still! 20.000 km along the Panamericana successfully, I need the possibility to focus 100% on the project.

The money flows completely into the realization of the project, that means into everything that belongs to the preparation and realization.

Specifically, the money goes into the following areas:
Travel expenses (accommodation, meals, )
Public relations
Equipment (tent, bicycle, film equipment, clothing)
Interpreters (private persons in the countries)

All donations that exceed my required budget will be donated 100% to the German Brain Tumor Society.

Just as every single vote counts for the project, every single euro contributes to making a real difference in my project. Every cent is earmarked for the implementation of the project.

Responsible use of money is a matter of course for me.

Who is behind the project?

The project was initiated by me personally and I alone carry it out. Since I am not only doing my project for myself, but I am taking it to the public and letting everyone participate in it, ultimately every single person who supports this project is a part of my adventure.

I am Darius Braun. If you want to learn more about me, feel free to visit my website: undtrotzdem

Thank you to all my friends and family for your spiritual and moral support.
