On Sunday, July 26, the Strobel family experienced an unimaginable tragedy.

While hiking with friends, Levi (15) was tragically taken in a lightning strike and welcomed into the arms of Jesus. His younger brother, Jace (13), was critically injured and transported by Flight for Life to receive emergency medical care. By God's grace, Jace improved throughout the night, and the family remains hopeful as he continues on the road to recovery.

Sara and Dain, longtime members of the Erie community, remain by Jace's side while also grieving the devastating loss of Levi and supporting their other two sons, Deaj (17) and Kai (11). No family should ever have to walk through heartbreak like this.

Those who know Sara and Dain know they have dedicated their lives to serving others with generous hearts and unwavering faith. They have been a source of encouragement, compassion, and service to so many. Now it is our privilege to surround them with that same love and support as they walk through this unimaginable season.

This GoFundMe has been created to help ease the financial burden during the days and months ahead. Donations will help with medical expenses, funeral costs, meals, lost income, counseling, and the many unexpected expenses that come in the days and months ahead.

If you feel led to give, every gift, no matter the amount, will make a meaningful difference. If you are unable to donate, we ask that you continue praying for the family and consider sharing this fundraiser with others.

If you would like to support the family in other practical ways, we have also organized a Meal Train to help provide meals and ease some of the day to day burden in the weeks ahead.

More than anything, we ask for your prayers.

We believe that God is near to the brokenhearted and faithful to carry us through even the darkest valleys. While we cannot understand why tragedies like this happen, we trust that the Lord will surround the Strobel family with His peace, strength, comfort, and unfailing love in the days ahead.

Thank you to everyone who has reached out with prayers, messages, meals, and countless acts of kindness. Your love has been a tangible reminder that this family is not walking this road alone.

"He heals the brokenhearted and binds up their wounds. He determines the number of the stars and calls them each by name. Great is our Lord and mighty in power; His understanding has no limit."
Psalm 147:3-5

Thank you for standing with this precious family, for lifting them up in prayer, and for helping carry them through this heartbreaking journey.
