Ancheta Family Pregnancy Update:
On Saturday September 14, Katie began bleeding excessively with pregnancy complications and was taken by ambulance to Wilcox Hospital. She was life flighted to Honolulu the next morning and taken to Kapiolani Medical Center for Women and Children so that she could see specialists for care in her pregnancy complications.
After many tests and scans, it was determined that Katie experienced a placenta abruption. The baby’s amniotic sac had also ruptured to some degree and is leaking fluid. The doctors were watching the baby and amniotic fluid levels and trying to keep baby inside until at least 34 weeks gestation (Oct 2). They were treating with antibiotics to avoid infection in the mean time.
Early Wednesday September 18 at 1:00am, Katie went into labor, as when they gave her epidural it caused her to relax and the placenta to fully detach - so they had to do an emergency C-Section. The baby was deliverd and is okay - breathing on her own with oxygen mask in NEC unit. She weighed only 3.13 lbs, but her APGAR score was 8-9, which is very good. They are watching them both now. Please keep praying.
Michael has been in Thailand at a Missions confernce, and began heading back as soon as he heard she went into labor. He talked with Katie and also the necunit doctor from Bangkok. Michael arrives in Honolulu on Thursday at 7:30am.
The baby has pick line, feeding tube and breathing mask but seems super healthy. Katie may get to hold her tomorrow if all continues well. Since the baby was born prematurely she will need to be in the NICU here at Kapiolani for several weeks (4-8 weeks estimated).
The Ancheta’s are deeply saddened by what they know they will see their little baby daughter go through in those first few weeks of life, but are trusting God that He will strengthen them and strengthen her little body as well. God’s hand and provision and goodness have been very real and apparent through all of this for them. Please pray for Him to be honored and glorified, for Katie to recover quickly, the baby to continue to grow in stregnth, and for for no infections for baby or Katie. Thank you for praying!
“The Lord gives strength to his people. The Lord blesses his people with peace.” Psalm 29:11

The Money from this GoFundMe will go to the Ancheta family to help with costs in this time of Katie’s hospitalization and also the time their new baby will spend in the NICU.
Doctors anticipate that Katie and baby will be in the hospital for 6-8 weeks. Medical expenses will be covered by insurance, but family travel, lodging, transportation and extended care, etc. This will also help with items needed for the baby, and any other unforeseen costs that may arise.
Thank you for your love, giving, support, care, and prayers for the Ancheta family. They are truly grateful beyond what they can express in words.
