From Root to Thread. Weaving the Earth's Heartbeat

Hello, I am Radha Raman, a member of the Muisca indigenous community of Fowe and a spokesperson for the art of loom weaving. This tradition is not only an artistic act but a profound practice of meditation that connects us with ourselves and the world around us. Each thread we weave is an expression of thoughts and energies in harmony.

Weaving in my community is much more than a skill: it is a way of life that allows us to find peace and balance. In our tradition, we understand that caring for the Earth is essential, as it provides us with the resources we use and sustains our lives and art. Respecting and protecting it is an act of gratitude and a commitment to future generations.

My purpose is to bring this tradition to Europe, where I will share, through workshops, the technique and reflection that have accompanied us for generations. I will also convey the importance of living in harmony with nature and taking care of it as an integral part of our practices and values.

But this project not only aims to enrich others; it is also an opportunity to strengthen my community. The funds I raise will not only cover the costs of my stay and materials in Europe but will also enable me to return with resources to continue working for the well-being of my territory and my family, to continue preserving our traditions, and to build a more solid future.

Esta tradición no solo es un acto artístico, sino una profunda práctica de meditación que nos conecta con nosotros mismos y con el mundo que nos rodea. Cada hilo que tejemos es una expresión de pensamientos y energías en armonía.

El tejido en mi comunidad es mucho más que una habilidad: es una forma de vida que nos permite encontrar paz y equilibrio. En nuestra tradición, entendemos que cuidar la tierra es esencial, ya que es de ella de donde provienen los recursos que usamos y el sustento para nuestra vida y nuestro arte. Respetarla y protegerla es un acto de agradecimiento y un compromiso con las generaciones futuras.

Mi propósito es llevar esta tradición a Europa, donde compartiré a través de talleres la técnica y la reflexión que nos han acompañado durante generaciones. También transmitiré la importancia de vivir en sintonía con la naturaleza y de cuidarla, como parte integral de nuestras prácticas y valores.

Pero este proyecto no solo busca enriquecer a otros; también es una oportunidad para fortalecer mi comunidad. Los fondos que recaude no solo cubrirán los costos de mi estadía y materiales en Europa, sino que me permitirán regresar con recursos para seguir trabajando en el bienestar de mi territorio y de mi familia, para seguir preservando nuestras tradiciones y construyendo un futuro más sólido.
