In 2010, I had the privilege of meeting a bright, energetic 8th grader in Kenya. She is now 29, has a degree in biomedical sciences, and studies pathogens to prevent community members from getting sick. Now she needs help.
Two weeks ago, Anastasia was rushed to the hospital for emergency surgery to treat an aggressive intestinal infection. Ever the fighter, with quality doctors, constant medical care and strong will, she is healing and near ready to continue recovery from home. However, hospital policy requires a bill to be paid in full before discharge.
Will you help???
Anastasia’s surgery and medical treatment cost ~$12,000 USD. The hospital agreed to waive $2,000 of device-use fees, and local family & friends contributed $1500 toward her care. (For context, the average income in Kenya is <$200 USD per month. Anastasia’s family is not well-to-do.) Our family contributed $1600 to initiate the surgery at admittance. This leaves a balance of ~$7000, for her to be discharged.
If you are in a position to help Anastasia financially, her family would be extremely grateful. Prayers for her continued recovery and healing are also deeply appreciated.
Note: any donations received in excess of Anastasia's medical fees, will be contributed to an education fund for her younger siblings.
