Anastacia is a 28 year old fun, loving wife and mother of 2. She is also a full time hard working employee. She is scheduled for a second brain surgery on 09/04/2018.
In 2009 at the age of 19 an intracranial meningioma was completely resected she has been monitored every 5 year through MRI scans for possible recurrence. On 08/07/2018 A MRI brain scan was preformed and on 08/09/2018 was a follow up appointment for the result of the testing. To everyone’s surprise another tumor has recurred within a 5 year span and is larger than the one resected in 2009.
Following these results she referred back to Neurosurgery and was seen on 08/13/2018. Several options were discussed and that they would be presented to a tumor board meeting held on 08/15/2018. After the case was presented the only and most effective treatment is a full resection via crainiotomy (brain surgery). This information was given on 08/20/2018.
This result has resulted in a scheduled surgeryon 09/04/2018. The timeline from scan to surgery is left to less than a month for preparations. Unfortunately financial burden is an issue.
Anastacia and her husband Chris are full time employees with two children ages 4 and 7. Recovery is expected to be 6-8 weeks pending results of surgery and if any radiation will be needed following the surgery and complete removal of tumor.
They plan on keeping some frame of normalcy for the kids. Anastacia isn’t a candidate for FMLA and has exhausted her PTO and sick pay. She does have insurance and deductibles have been met. However there is no plan for everyday expenses. Including daycare, car payments, mortgage, utilities payments and all the insurances for these.
Through all of these events Anastacia has remained very positive and continues to work until the day of surgery. We are really encouraging her to stay positive and strong for herself and her family and any relief with financial expenses will help them tremendously.
