Fund Anasara's Future in Medicine

Hello, my name is Anasara Lysaker and I am a student at Holy Names Academy High School in Seattle, Washington. I have always been drawn to science, specifically medicine. Based on my academic achievements and interest in biomedical studies,I have been invited to participate in the National Student Leadership Conference. This is a program that I want to attend, but I need help with funding. Other programs I have been invited to are the National Youth Leadership Forum by Envision for the same reasons I was nominated for NSLC. I have also been asked to attend a medical conference at Harvard University as a delegate representing my school and the state of Washington at the Congress of Future Medical Leaders. I have won two awards for my academic excellence, and I am a three time recipient of the Seymour Kaplin award, which recognizes leaders and promoters of the well being in one's school and community. The main reasons I want to go into a medical field is to be able to have the power to save lives with my own two hands, and to discover or create a medical innovation that is cheap, can be manufactured quickly and is acessible to all and is safe for the environment. Also, my mom has had lymphangioleiomyomatosis (a rare lung condition) that has been slowly and painfully progessing since my 14 year old sister was born. The effect that this very rare disease has had on my family has only brought us closer, but it is my own interest to specifically focus on the study of under-publicized diseases, and to find hope for families facing situations that I have had and will experience. The total cost to attend this 9 day program of hands on experience, conferencing and simulations at Berkley costs $3, 095, plus transportation fee's and meals. It would mean so much to me if you donated just a small amount to my cause, because this program will truly open my eyes to the amazing world of medicine, and set me ahead of my competitors for college admissions and right onto the path of my dream career.
