Ana’s Funeral and Boys

Hello, I’m Kenny Ana’s brother-in-law. Ana was married to my brother Rene Chavez; as you know, a year ago, Rene Chavez passed away due to COVID, which was very unexpected and sudden for us all. Despite Rene’s passing, Ana took it upon herself to push forward with the boys with adventure and trips, anything that’ll keep the boys happy, until earlier this year, on May 8th, 2022; Ana’s mother suffered a stroke and passed away. She was an only child and also lost her father in 2020. Despite the previous years, the family grieved in their own ways, staying positive and moving forward.

Around mid-June, Ana was dealing with minor pains around her abdomen, which she thought was nothing until the pain worsened. She was admitted to the hospital and was diagnosed with liver cancer. The doctors said they could not do anything to treat the cancer because it was severe. I remember her telling me, “it’s no big deal; I am going to stay positive and fight this because my boys need me,” though the pains she was dealing with took a toll on her, she didn’t ask for much help because she didn’t want people to worry especially her sons.

Ana's ultimate goal in life was to live a long life to care for her boys. Because of this, she decided to receive treatment in another country as a last resort to save her life. Ana returned from the treatment last week with worse symptoms than she left with. She went to the local hospital the next day and was becoming unresponsive. The doctors told us that her cancer had spread rapidly and her liver and kidneys were failing. The doctors then gave Ana 48 hours to live. Ana passed away peacefully at the age of 38 on Thursday, September 15th. She had a smile on her face that was indescribably beautiful, as though she was seeing her lost loved ones once again. Though the last two years have been rough with their family, these boys have been through a lot of pain, losing both parents and grandparents in about three years.

Unfortunately, Ana did not have life insurance that we know of nor a will, so this has left us with quite a burden. The boys' grandmother, Rene's Mother, will be caring for the boys as well as their uncles. We are collecting funds for funeral/burial expenses and the boys' future necessities and savings. My family and I are very thankful for all your thoughts and prayers. Please continue to pray for the boys as they experience this tough time. God bless you all.
