Ana Maria Robles: Help Save Bella Medical Skin Care
The Covid-19 pandemic forced millions of businesses large and small across the globe to close our doors. These precautionary closures have left individuals unable to work, such as with my business, and scrambling to cover lost income. These are uncertain times for all of us, I'd like to share my story, how the Covid-19 crisis has affected my life's work.
I am the owner of Bella Medical Skin Care, Inc. in Hayward, CA. for the past 20 years. In 2000, I was offered a part-time position as an office assistant for a plastic surgeon who I knew and worked with over the years at Children’s hospital, Oakland surgery dept. While his plastic cosmetic surgery practice had grown in Hayward, many surgical patients were concerned about anti-aging skincare. Dr. Carstens and I decided to expand the business to noninvasive services. He suggested that I attend esthetic school, become a licensed practitioner, and a member of the Society of Plastic Surgical Skin Care Specialists, a voluntary organization dedicated to the promotion, enhancement, and the delivery of safe, quality skin care. I embraced the idea of learning about clinical skin care correction. I began my training with myself, applying products, learning of skin care ingredients and skin types. The results gave me confidence to network with colleagues, solicit clients, and the ability to grow a healthy skin care practice. Since 2000, all clients are 100% referral based.
Prior to the Covid-19 crisis, I recently expanded my practice to San Francisco. The expansion idea came from long term San Franciscan clients who asked me to consider expanding to SF, due to the traffic and time spent commuting to Hayward. Their skin care concerns and needs are important to me as the special connection I have with each of them. Because of the one on one relationships I share with my clients, I acknowledged their concerns and built a solid business plan to expand to SF. As an opportunity arose six months ago, I expanded my practice to SF with great success. At that point I knew I had built a viable skin care practice in two locations, serving more clients’ needs. I love what I do and feel highly confident to reimagine my goals and dreams for the future with my business.
Nobody could predict the trials of this Covid-19 crisis. The Shelter-in-place mandate has prevented me from opening my doors to clients in need. As a business minded individual, I have always held a supplemental service-as-needed job at Highland Hospital, to carry me through difficult months in my business. Unfortunately, my limited hours supplemental job prevents my approval for various small business programs and eligibility for stimulus loans, or unemployment for myself. In other words, I will reopen my business for over two months in arrears.
Please support me as I go through this challenging crisis in my life. Your support will be used to pay bills and daily operational expenses of my business; which include restocking inventory as well as safety mandated measures once I reopen. I am not ready to be dismissed or (be) eliminated by COVID-19. I am asking you to help soften the blow and please support my small business --- stand with me in conviction, pride and spirit to magnify OUR purpose and value in protecting what I passionately love: Bella Medical Skin Care.
Please share my campaign with your community and social networks.
Be safe, and stay healthy.
With gratitude,
Ana Maria Robles
