Ana Ochoa's medical fund

Donation protected
On November 14th my dear aunt Ana collapsed and started having seizures. We rushed her to Scripps Memorial Hospital in La Jolla where doctors found two aneurysms, one had ruptured and caused a hemorrhage on the right side of her brain and the other was a ticking time bomb. She underwent surgery to fix both aneurysms; unfortunately, this caused a stroke that affected the left side of her brain. Ana is breathing via a tracheotomy and has a feeding tube. She has experienced significant brain injury and has paralysis on the right side of her body as well as impairments in speech, comprehension and production. Her recovery is expected to be a lengthy process.

Ana is a caring sister, daughter, friend, teacher, and aunt to many nieces and nephews who she has helped raise and who love her dearly. She has been a math and chemistry teacher for about 30 years in Calexico and has helped countless students achieve their college dreams by helping extensively with their college application process from SAT prep to recommendations and personal statement coaching. Ana has always been very giving of her time and encouragement for all of those around her and now she needs our help. Her insurance only covers a percentage of her hospital expenses and offers limited coverage for the long-term rehabilitation center that she will need to go to next. We’ve set up this GoFund me account to help pay for the medical expenses that her insurance does not cover.

We really appreciate all your calls and support during this trying time and we are extremely grateful for any donation you can make.

Best,
Stephanie Alfonso
