Ana Maria Vivar - Family Reunification

We have created this fundraiser as a way to allow family and friends to contribute to one of our mother Ana Maria’s last wishes, which was to have her family with her during her last moments and during her funeral, including her siblings who live in Peru. Unfortunately, given how cumbersome and long immigration processes can be, our mother left us without having her siblings near. However, we never stopped the fight for them to be able to say farewell. Since June, we have made several efforts which included submitting costly applications for humanitarian visas for some of our mother’s siblings and tourist visas for others; soliciting help from our state senator to accelerate the cases; soliciting multiple requests to speed up the processing of these cases while showing letters from the hospital certifying our mother’s illness and prognosis, among others, in order to try to fulfill our mother’s wishes. We continue to fight in this lengthy, expensive process. The good news is that our cases are finally getting reviewed and the expediting of the process has been accepted, so now we await final approval. However, if this approval takes place, the process of bringing our mother’s siblings to the U.S. will be very costly given the cost of last-minute airfare tickets, in addition to the funeral costs which we are incurring at this moment. For this reason, we open this fundraiser to give an opportunity to contribute to this wish, if you can and are able to. Thank you so much in advance for your generosity.

Hemos creado este fondo como una manera de permitir a la familia y amistades contribuir con uno de los últimos deseos de nuestra madre, Ana María, que fue el de poder tener a su familia reunida con ella en sus últimos momentos y en su funeral, incluyendo a sus hermanos que viven en Perú. Lamentablemente, debido a lo engorroso y largos que pueden ser los procesos de inmigración, nuestra madre Ana María se fue sin tener a sus hermanos cerca. Sin embargo, nunca paramos la lucha para que ellos puedan lograr despedirse. Desde Junio, hemos hecho diferentes esfuerzos para poder cumplir este deseo, incluyendo enviar solicitudes de visas humanitarias para algunos hermanos y de visas de turistas para otros, cada solicitud costando cientos de dólares; el solicitar ayuda a la oficina del senador de Connecticut para acelerar los casos; el solicitar múltiples pedidos para acelerar el procesamiento de los casos con cartas del hospital certificando su enfermedad; entre otros. Seguimos en la lucha en este costoso proceso. La buena noticia es que ya se están revisando los casos y se aceptó la aceleración de estos, debido a la muerte de nuestra madre, y ahora andamos en espera de la aprobación final. Sin embargo, si se da la aprobación, el proceso de traer a los hermanos de mi madre acarreará un alto costo debido a que van a ser múltiples pasajes aéreos de último minuto, sumado a los gastos funerarios que ya se están dando. Por esta razón, ponemos este fondo para dar una oportunidad de contribuir con este deseo, si es que pueden y así lo desean. Muchísimas gracias de antemano por su generosidad.
