Anna MacMillan & Family
Donation protected
Hi everyone, on behalf of Ottawa City Soccer Club, we are looking to collect donations for Anna MacMillan and the rest of the MacMillan family. Anna and her sister Sophie are both players in our club, and her father, James MacMillan, has been a coach with us for many years. We are hoping to leverage our network of members and even further, the whole soccer community in Ottawa, to raise awareness of the recent tragic news for this family.
On April 4th, Anna went to the hospital after several days of what was suspected to be a stomach bug. To the family’s surprise, Anna was quickly diagnosed with a serious form of heart failure. Anna was airlifted to SickKids in Toronto to seek the attention of heart specialists in the area. Anna’s heart deteriorated more when she was airlifted, which lead to her having to undergo open heart surgery.
She’s stable now after the surgery but she now needs to stay strong enough for a few months while she awaits a heart transplant. The MacMillan family will have to stay within 2 hours from SickKids even if she gets healthier over the next little bit, while they are on the transplant list. Although the family has received support from the Ronald McDonald Foundation, you can imagine the unexpected costs that are related to uprooting to Toronto on such short notice.
Ottawa City SC have the MacMillan’s in our thoughts as they navigate through this immensely difficult time. We hope the power of our community can come together to help them out in whatever way is possible. Thank you in advance and join us in supporting this family through Anna’s journey.
