In a joint effort, the Altona Football Club and Altona Junior Football Club, are in a bid to raise money to help mitigate the increased cost of installing a behind goal net on the Main Oval at JK Grant Reserve.
This long awaited and much needed nets project will make a massive difference to players, volunteers, and spectators; improving safety, reducing ball retrieval time, and helping protect vehicles parked along the fence line. All while improving the overall experience for everyone involved at our great club.
Collectively, we are a community driven and run club that supports footballers of all ages, from juniors right through to seniors, and we rely heavily on the generosity of our members, families, sponsors and our local supporter community to help make upgrades like this possible.
It’s a time like now that we’re calling on our Viking Community to help us raise funds to alleviate the financial blow out that this project is enduring.
Though no fault of our clubs, the cost of the project has increased as a consequence of unknown factors emerging after the project commenced. For example, additional council requirements about environmental management, underground power to avoid for safety and rock to drill through for the posts to be installed. What has been an entirely club funded project of 48k, has now blown out to 60K+ There has been no Hobsons Bay City Council funding for this project. Telstra Grants has kindly awarded the project 12.5K and the remaining amounts will come from club bank accounts.
You can be assured that every dollar donated will go directly toward covering the costs of this project. Whether you’re part of the Vikings family, a past player, or just a local legend who loves grassroots footy, your support will mean the world to us.
Let’s come together to give our club the facilities it deserves.
