Brooklynn is three years old and has a rare muscle disease called dermatomyositis. The disease painfully weakens muscles throughout her body, making it difficult for her to walk, manage daily activities, and even swallow. Her treatment will be long and aggressive, and will involve ongoing medications and rehabilitative therapies over the next year or more.
