This is Michael Deibert, an author and journalist who has covered Haiti for years, and Dánica Coto, an international correspondent who covers the Caribbean, including Haiti.

A man there needs our help.

His name is Kerlo Barthelus, and he has worked as a translator and driver for us and other journalists. He is courageous, dependable and hard-working.

Kerlo was diagnosed with colon cancer in October.

A group of us has already financed six chemotherapy sessions, but Kerlo now needs a CT scan and possible surgery, so we’re launching another fundraiser.
