Me presento, soy Andrea Fabiola Fernández Rojas, venezolana, madre soltera, y tengo 27 años de edad. Hace un tiempo noté que un nódulo en mi cuello comenzaba a crecer. Al principio era pequeño y no le presté mucha atención, pero su crecimiento me llevó a realizarme estudios médicos. En abril de este año, mientras trabajaba, comencé a sentirme mal con mareos repetitivos, dolores de cabeza y dolores en mis huesos. Decidí ir a consulta con un cirujano general que hace jornadas, y logramos obtener el dinero para la operación realizada para el jueves 30 de Mayo 2024. Basándonos en los últimos estudios realizados en febrero 2024, que no mostraban nada sospechoso, el doctor planeó una tiroidectomía parcial. Sin embargo, durante la cirugía, la situación fue más grave de lo esperado y tuvo que realizar una tiroidectomía total debido a los daños encontrados. La glándula fue enviada a biopsia, y después de esperar los días correspondientes, recibimos la devastadora noticia de que los resultados no fueron como esperábamos.

Con este diagnóstico, volví al cirujano y fui referida a medicina nuclear para evaluar los próximos pasos. En este momento, el tratamiento que necesito es una dosis ablativa de IODO - 131 Radiactivo de 100 MCI, que tiene un costo de 2500 dólares. Para poder pedirlo, debo contar con al menos un 60% del pago inicial, ya que el tratamiento se compra en el extranjero y tarda unas tres semanas en llegar a Venezuela. Necesito este tratamiento con urgencia.

Dear community,

I introduce myself, I am Andrea Fabiola Fernández Rojas, Venezuelan, single mother, and I am 27 years old. A while ago I noticed a nodule on my neck starting to grow. At first it was small and I didn't pay much attention to it, but its growth led me to undergo medical studies. In April of this year, while working, I started to feel unwell with repetitive dizziness, headaches and pain in my bones. I decided to go to consult with a general surgeon who works days, and we managed to obtain the money for the operation performed on Thursday, May 30, 2024. Based on the latest studies carried out in February 2024, which did not show anything suspicious, the doctor planned a thyroidectomy partial. However, during surgery, the situation was more serious than expected and he had to perform a total thyroidectomy due to the damage found. The gland was sent for biopsy, and after waiting the corresponding days, we received the devastating news that the results were not as we expected.

With this diagnosis, I returned to the surgeon and was referred to nuclear medicine to evaluate next steps. Right now, the treatment I need is an ablative dose of 100 MCI Radioactive IODO-131, which costs $2,500. In order to request it, I must have at least 60% of the initial payment, since the treatment is purchased abroad and takes about three weeks to arrive in Venezuela. I need this treatment urgently.
