An Unplugged & Unforgettable Summer for Cire
Donation protected
Cire is pretty amazing. He’s a piano prodigy, quick to laugh, and has an unmatched mathematical mind. He’s been in my classroom for two years, and I’m reluctant to see him head off to high school.
Cire is a city kid. He’s used to sweltering NYC summers, smelly subway tracks, and a lot of freedom with too little to do.
Cire recently had a revelation. He experienced Farm and Wilderness (F&W) for our annual Fall Harvest Work Weekend . Here, Cire realized the world the exists beyond New York City He jumped in like he owned the place. He dug up potatoes, marking each one with a joyous exclamation: “Potatooo!” He serenaded our meals with his electric fingers on the piano. He joyfully cleaned pots. Cire let nothing stop his happiness. At F&W, he reflected deeply, worked enthusiastically, and connected emotionally with those around him.
We want to keep this growth going by giving a kid like Cire a break from the city life he is used to, we can encourage him to more fully realize his unique potential. He has the empathy, creativity, and work ethic to thrive at F&W, if only he’s given the chance.
This is why we need you! Your donation would give Cire. The chance to leave loud NYC for the serenity of the Vermont woods. The chance to leave the smells of trash on the street for the smells of new fallen rains in the valley. A chance for him to find the balance and connection he needs to thrive in today’s world.
Camp is an unforgettable experience. Let’s give Cire and the opportunity for it to be unforgettable for him.
We are currently looking at all funding opportunities. His family is from very limited means and opportunities. We applied for financial aid, but unfortunately the need was greater than F&W could provide this year. Any additional funding from this campaign would be donated to F&W's "campership" fund, their scholarship fund to allow kids like Cire experience the unplugged and unforgettable F&W experience. This is especially a great opportunity for former staff and campers to keep passing the goodwill forward by allowing Cire to be inspired just as their were.
