An Unexpected Hurdle for Rife
Donation protected
Rife Hilgartner is a father, son, friend, xterra off-road triathlete, mountain adventure seeker, and cancer patient. He has been given a stage 4 cancer diagnosis, colon that has metastasized to his liver and right lung. His entire life has been dedicated to sport and being physically active. He has true grit, and I'm sure he will use that to beat this beast!
A true warrior, Rife is using his inner-strength for his personal recovery and will make daily movement an essential part of his well-being. Even during this challenging time, Rife is thinking about how he can "give back." The Cancer Exercise Training Institute has awarded him a scholarship so that he can become a Cancer Exercise Specialist and help himself as well as others on their own cancer journey.
He is in his second round of chemo treatment and , all things considered, doing well! His outlook and positivity are contagious! I know that Rife wants to dedicate himself to helping others with cancer; especially athletes like himself. I know that his friends, family, and supporters would like nothing more than for Rife to be a "spokesperson" for the many benefits of exercise during cancer treatment, into recovery, and long-term survivorship.
During his treatments, he is selflessly focusing on putting together a charity benefit this summer. Along with CETI, Rife wants to help raise money to give scholarships to other people struggling through cancer treatment so that they, too, have access to rehabilitative exercise programming.
I know in my heart that Rife will overcome great odds to become a survivor, and make sure that he is there to enjoy every moment of his daughters lives as they mature. With a strong mental state of belief in the journey that lies ahead, along with positive daily affirmations, I know that he will be able to fight hard and push through the challenges that lie ahead of him.
Cancer treatment is devastating physically, mentally, and financially. Please join me to support this amazing spirit and help cover some of his medical bills for cancer treatment.
