An Undiagnosable Disease

Earlier this week, my beautiful daughter, Lyndee, was diagnosed with Neurological Lyme disease, Bartonella, Babesia, and a handful of other viruses that entered into her body while serving a mission in Uruguay and Brazil. She soon needs to begin treatments and medication to attempt to handle this disease. However, most treatments are not covered by insurance. During her mission, Lyndee was bitten by a tick that left a small rash on her back. After the rash went away, she thought nothing of it. A few months later, her hair started to fall out, heart palpitations began, and strange sores appeared on her body.
During the past year, Lyndee has developed severe hip and joint pain that keeps her up at night. She has lost almost 40 lbs, and has struggled to form sentences in the right order and recall common words. She recently had a scare when her throat closed up and was barely able to swallow for days due to an unknown pain deep in her throat. These, along with many other symptoms not mentioned, are why I am doing this gofundme.

Lyndee and her husband, Tate, visited several different doctors during the past 12 months to try and figure out what was causing these problems. Every doctor told Lyndee the same thing, that she was stressed and soon the health concerns would fade out. They haven’t.
Like many of you know, Lyndee’s father passed away when she was 8 years old. During her teenage years she had to work several jobs to help me, a single mother, provide for our family. Somehow, Lyndee always found a way to get her school work done, work her jobs, practice for cheerleading, and still have a social life. Lyndee has always been one of the hardest workers I know. Given this background, Lyndee knew well what stress felt like and knew that it wasn’t stress that was causing her body to attack itself. Determined to find answers, we decided to visit a specialist in California a few days ago.

Lyme disease is extremely difficult to diagnose, so hard that many doctors will sign you off as stressed and give you a sleeping prescription before helping you find the right medication. Lyme disease is something that can affect every part of your body, if not treated. While often incurable, there are treatments and medications that you can take to live a normal and happy life with Lyme. Right now, Lyndee and her husband are working 2 jobs and going to BYU. Like many of you can relate, going to college while holding a job and trying to make ends meet is no easy task, let alone with thousands of dollars in medical bills. Additionally, they are now needing to engage in long-term treatments, and purchase multiple medications for Lyndee, however, as stated previously, most of them are not covered by insurance.
Lyndee has always gone out of her way to make sure that those around her are happy and taken care of. With your help, I want to help her make sure she doesn’t have to worry about being able to afford the medication she needs to get better. I know Lyndee and Tate would be extremely appreciative of anything you can give to help her get better faster. Thank you so much!
