Let me introduce you to one of the kindest, most loving young women you’ll ever meet. Giselle is the type of person who is always smiling, always willing to help, and always lifting the people around her. Now she and her family need our help.

Here is her message. I hope you can get through it without crying—I couldn’t:

From Giselle:
My name is Giselle Navarro, and I’m a 17-year-old senior at Venice High School. I do my best to attend school, even on the days when I feel exhausted and at my lowest. I am also an LAPD Pacific Division Cadet at the rank of Lieutenant. This is supposed to be my senior year—a time to celebrate, enjoy my friends, and make memories—but instead, I’m fighting stage 4 kidney failure.

I have big dreams. I want to become an LAPD K-9 Officer one day, and I hope to attend my dream school, USC. But right now, my family and I are facing one of the hardest challenges of our lives.

I’m searching for a miracle—a kidney donor. A live donor between the ages of 18–40 (even up to 50) could save my life. Ideally, someone young and healthy who is willing to donate.

My family is doing everything in their power to keep me going, but the truth is… we’re struggling. The endless doctor visits, medications, and treatments have drained nearly everything we have. I see the worry in my parents’ eyes even when they try to hide it. I see how hard they are fighting for me.

I have three younger siblings—my sisters are 12 and 4, and my brother is 10. They know I’m sick, but they don’t understand how heavy this really is. I wish I could protect them from all of this.

Asking for help is one of the hardest things I’ve ever had to do. But right now, anything you can give, truly anything, would mean more than I can ever express.

From the bottom of my heart, thank you for reading this, for caring, and for standing with us. My family and I will never forget your kindness.

Thank you so much for your love, kindness, and support.

— Giselle
