Hi, my name is Gloria Pobiedzinski, and I'm raising money for a new in-home system (SureHands) that will help my daughter, Annemarie Marcheterre, who has Multiple Sclerosis, move independently with privacy and dignity between her wheelchair and her bed, shower and toilet. The cost of the system is $10,000 and will be installed in her bedroom and bathroom.
Annemarie was diagnosed with MS in 1984 at the age of 14. She went on to graduate from Beverly High School, Class of '88, and then in 1992, earned a B.S. in physical therapy from The University of New England in Biddeford, ME. She married the love of her life, Dave Marcheterre, just three years later and held a job as a physical therapist at Addison Gilbert Hospital in Gloucester, MA. Just six years into her career, however, her condition forced her to leave the job she loved and apply for disability income.
Since then, her physical health has declined. She is confined full-time to a power wheelchair and needs help from her husband to move around their home. This disease has been financially draining. She has needed costly medications, physical therapies, assistive devices, home renovations and a handicapped vehicle that has cost tens of thousands of dollars. Yet, she has never felt comfortable asking for help.
Annemarie always has a big smile to greet others and never complains about her trials. But behind the scenes, daily life is a constant struggle.
All the money raised will go specifically toward installing the system that will help her transfer safely. My goal for her is to have SureHands system up and running just after the first of the year.
Thank you for helping my daughter.
Gloria Pobiedzinski
