An important queer move about family & more.

Hi, I'm Clint, and thanks for checking out our page. We hope you can help out with whatever you can. As a student film-maker, I want to talk about what I know. I know about being gay, HIV+ and wanting to have my own child. I also know that friendships can create even stronger connections than family, and I wanted to look deeper into this. The ongoing pressure in society to be "perfect". Perfect partner, (or any partner for that matter) children, house, car... it's a lot. This film is about a man finally letting go. Seeing the things he has and shedding the things he doesn't.
My Own is a short naturalistic film that explores the desire to be a parent and the constantly changing picture of what a “real family” looks like in today’s society. Although this is a queer film, it deals with issues that are not specifically queer. Making it more universal, trying to push the narrative away from things being a specific result o homophobia, thereby normalising that the queer community experience the world in, often, the same way as the heteronormative community. It's an important message we need to see in media more often.
But helping fund this movie, you'll be helping to cover the cost of food for the fabulous cast and crew. Petrol and travel down to the Mornington Peninsular, where this beautiful film takes place. Costume and equipment hire. And after we are finished making this captivating tale, we need to get it out to the world, so marketing, festival submissions and a premiere screening for all the generous donors to this very GoFundMe!!
So if you'd like to help a team of new creatives make some art that matters...chuck us a few dollars. We GREATLY appreciate it!!
Thanks in advance, Clint and the team!
