What would the world be like if people chose to connect? If they chose to take in the world and the people around them, to notice the little things life has to offer and to learn the stories of the strangers that inhabit the background of their lives.

My name is Ethem, I am a 19 year old composer, writer, and musician. With the help of my longtime best friend, Emily, we’ve composed the score and written the lyrics/script for a new musical called “An Evening In Paley Park” that showcases one life-changing evening of connection in 1973 New York.

We are raising funds for our development workshop week that takes place from the 6th-10th of July, and we’d love your help bringing this project to life! Receiving any amount of financial support is massively appreciated, this will help with funding the resources that are needed for the actors, score arrangements, orchestrations, musicians, script printing costs, rewrites, advertising, travel, equipment, and more.

SYNOPSIS

Set in New York 1973, “An Evening In Paley Park" is a new musical which follows Eric, a struggling writer who’s too self-centred and stuck in his head to realise the world he longs to write about. Each night at 6pm sharp, he returns to the same park in search of a spark. As the evenings pass, the park begins to fill with others. These endearingly neurotic strangers, with warmth, wit, and their own startling private truths, begin to pierce the stillness he’s built around himself, forcing him to confront more than just his writer’s block.

MORE ABOUT THE PROJECT

For over a year now, we’ve worked on creating this original musical. Now, what began as scattered ideas from character observations during daily commutes, has evolved into a full-scale, 11-song, 2-Act musical that captures the beauty in the everyday little things life has to offer. We hope audiences walk away seeing the people around them passing through just a little differently—and maybe even take the time to stop, listen, and connect.
