Asking for Help: An E-Scooter to Get to Mental Health Treatment

Hello,
My name is Philipp, and I currently live in the AZC Deelen asylum center, located between towns, near Arnhem. I have been in the asylum procedure for over two and a half years, and unfortunately, it is still unclear when this process will come to an end.

Normally, I try not to complain about life in the Netherlands or in the AZC. But right now, I am in a very difficult situation. I have been diagnosed with severe depression, and I need to travel to the GGNet clinic in Zutphen 2–3 times per week for treatment. These sessions are essential for my mental health and emotional stability.

The problem is that there is almost no public transportation near the AZC. I am forced to rely on RRReis taxi services, but they are extremely unreliable — the taxi is often late or doesn’t show up at all. One time, I waited three hours just to get home. There were also times I waited two hours. These incidents leave me feeling even worse emotionally.

Riding a bicycle is not an option due to my health condition. The distance to Arnhem is about 10 km one way, and a daily 20 km round trip is physically too exhausting for me. I’m not even sure I could handle 2–3 km on a bike.

An Electric Scooter Would Be a Lifeline

In my situation, an electric scooter would be a real lifesaver. It would give me the independence to get to treatment sessions on time and preserve what stability I have.
But because of my legal status, I can’t get a loan or pay in installments. I also don’t have a tax number, which means I’m not allowed to work. Even if I could work, the location of the AZC makes it almost impossible.

I want to mention that I didn’t choose the most expensive or high-end scooter. I chose one of the cheapest models available, but one that I believe is reliable and well-suited to my needs. My goal is not comfort or luxury — just a practical and affordable solution that can get me to the clinic safely and consistently.

I spoke with COA about transferring to another center, but they told me I need to provide specific reasons. I suspect it’s difficult for them to find another available room.
I’ve also contacted shops, charities, friends, and family — but no one has been able to help.

I Am Asking for Support

It’s very difficult and embarrassing for me to ask for help — but my situation leaves me no choice.
I’m kindly asking for support to get an electric scooter. This is not a luxury item for me, but something truly essential for my mental health and recovery.

If you have any questions, I am more than willing to answer them and talk to anyone who would like to know more. I want to be fully transparent and honest in this request.

I sincerely hope for understanding, kindness, and solidarity.
If you are able to support me — even a small amount — it would mean the world.

After the purchase, I will make sure to share full proof — including receipts, photos, and anything needed to confirm that the funds were used honestly and as intended.

Thank you from the bottom of my heart for your time and compassion.
