An Ella-va Hip Surgery...

Hi, my name is Jordan and I have a beautiful 10 month old puppy who is in dire need of hip surgery...

 

Since 2011, I have suffered with a diagnosis of Bipolar Affective Disorder and Generalized Anxiety Disorder, during a long and arduous period of ups and downs and failed treatments, it was recommended that to help my daily functioning that I have an assistance dog in my life (and I was so on board for this, it would be a wish come true!)

 

In 2021 this wish finally came true and I ended up purchasing a Border Collie x Minature Poodle from a recommended breeder in NSW and I ended up with my gorgeous Eleanor Margaret Mark (Ella for short!)

 

 

 

 

So we started training! Ella took off with flying colours and we went through puppy preschool at Smythesdale Vet and then private tuition with Kim from Dogtivities (who is amazing and we can't recommend enoguh) all with the goal of eventually getting Ella to the point where she could pass the PAT (Public Access Test) and on her way to being registered as an assistance dog.

 

But disaster struck, not 6 months old, Ella started to 'Skip' and we took her into Fur Life Vet Smythesdale to see if if she had a splinter or if it was a muscle injury from playing? Unfortunately, the reality was much, much worse...

 

Ella was diagnosed with Hip Dysplasia at just 6 months old.

 

 

 

Ella's left hip dislocates out of its socket extremely on the preliminary x-rays and we were sent for follow up x-rays a month later after intensive bedrest (and a month for a puppy is a long time!)

 

These follow-up x-rays confirmed that speciality orthopaedic surgery needed to be completed with a cost of $7,500 per hip if Ella did not respond well to rest and pain management.

 

 

 

 

As time passes, it is more and more pressing that Ella receives this surgery just to be pain-free. At not even a year old, she deserves so much better than this.

As it is a specialist surgery, we are unable to get a payment plan and the fee is too large for VetPay to assist.
Ella's breeder is also not willing to come to the table and legal action is being pursued. Currently there are no other financial supports that we can pursue...

We are desperately seeking support to pay for Ella's surgery. These funds will be used only for the Surgery and after-care of Ella.

 

Please help me give the life this dog deserves.
