My name is Assumpta Gaffney and I am an Irish citizen. I help raise money for my friend Alaa Eyad Abu Talib and his family in central Gaza.

This campaign has two main objectives:

1. Fundraising to cover daily needs. 2. Save any additional money to cover travel costs when the Rafah crossing is reopened.

The funds will be used to help Alaa’s family directly and extended to provide food, water, clothing, and medicine for Alaa and his family, as well as various basic needs of life.

Funds from each transfer will also be allocated as savings for the evacuation of Alaa’s immediate family (his mother and himself) eventually through Hala Travel Agency.

Due to the restrictions imposed on the Jovand Me platform, it is necessary for someone from outside Palestine to host the fundraising campaign and transfer money via bank transfer between our banks, which is what I did to the previous GFM campaign of this family and I will continue to do with this campaign.

Message from Alaa:

“The war stole my friends, my parents were martyred, my loved ones I was studying with, deprived me of my education because of the power and water outage and the collapse of educational institutions. We have also lost our only source of livelihood, which has made us live in harsh conditions amid massive destruction, without any means of securing our basic needs. My only dream now is to get my family out of Gaza to a safer place.”

I’m trying to raise 50,000 USD to help my family leave this hell and seek a decent life away from war and destruction. These funds will be used to cover the costs of travel, visas and initial accommodation in a safe country, as well as daily food and water needs so that we can provide enough evacuation.
