On Saturday, May 7, 2022, my brother-in-law Larry Purnell lost his life in a senseless act of violence on 116th Lowe while doing Lawn care service for one of his many customers. Larry was the main provider for his wife (Sharon) and his mother-in-law who suffers with Alzheimer. Larry was the CEO of “Larry Purnell Lawn Care and Moving Service.” He was his wife entire world and she is numb. This is her second time experiencing the gun violence that affect the city of Chicago. Larry and my sister (Sharon) lost their 31 year old son (Damien) to gun violence in January 2017. Damien was their only child. The family have not recovered from that tragedy and now Sharon faces this one without the support of her loving husband. My sister having her husband ripped away from her is disheartening. Larry was not only her husband and high-school sweetheart he was her financial provider. Larry was a “Giving Giant” providing jobs for young adults throughout the Harvey and Chicagoland area. He was a week away from his 65th birthday. Larry was a loving dad, Poppy, grandfather, brother, uncle, nephew, cousin and friend to many. He was a wonderful man who would help anyone in need. Larry was my sister’s soul-mate for over 50 years, and now he’s gone. So I’m asking for financial help on behalf of my sister, since her whole world has been turned upside down by one cruel cowardly act. There is absolutely no amount of money that will make up for his death; however, we would appreciate all donations given. If you can’t help financially please keep our family in your thoughts and prayers. Blessings to All.
