An Afghan Rescue - Save the life of my friend

My name is Benjamin Gourlay, a serving officer within the British Army, representing a cohort of others who are all united in the goal of rescuing our friend and brother from Afghanistan. I personally, shared a room with him whilst at the Royal Military Academy Sandhurst and we met up again whilst I was serving in Afghanistan, staying in touch continuously since.

 

My friend has a wife and three children, the youngest was only 18 days old as they tried to escape Kabul, in August, during the evacuation. My friend and his family are living in utter terror, fearing for their lives due to the very real threat of public execution.

 

My friend, in particular, is being hunted by the Taliban as well as the Haqqani Network. The risk is so great that he must remain nameless as he moves from safe house to safe house every 72 hours. Notably, a member of his family was summoned by a senior Taliban commander, when questioned about the whereabouts of my friend, his family member lied and said he had already fled to a third country.

 

My friend is well known in Afghanistan, having trained at the Royal Military Academy Sandhurst, served as a member of the Afghan Special Forces and worked with senior members of the Government of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan.

 

My friend is brave gentleman, we could all aspire to be more like. Brave, honourable and determined to protect his family. He wanted to serve his country and strongly believed in making his country a safer and better place – he was well loved by all his peers whilst at RMAS.
