Dec. 25, 2025: Help me Raise $15K by January 9 for a wheelchair accessible van!!

Hi everyone — thank you so much for being here. I rely on a wheelchair, and having a safe, reliable, wheelchair-accessible vehicle isn’t a luxury for me — it’s how I get to medical appointments, run errands, and maintain independence in my daily life. My current van is a 2010 model that’s no longer safe. It’s rusting underneath and doesn’t give me enough room to get in and out safely, which puts me at risk of injury. I’ve reached the point where a new vehicle isn’t optional — it’s necessary. After months of searching, I was approved through a grant program for a nearly brand-new 2020 wheelchair-accessible van with only 3,000 miles. It has modern accessibility features, including a backup camera, that would truly change my day-to-day life. The program is generously covering $48,000 of the total cost — an opportunity I’m incredibly grateful for. Why I need help right now To qualify for this program, the van must be no more than five years old, and the purchase must be completed before the end of the year. That means I need to raise $15,000 (GoFunMe total $68K before January 9 to cover the required out-of-pocket costs, including:
• The remaining balance due upon delivery • Taxes, title, and registration
•Accessibility and mobility costs not fully covered by MobilityWorks

This is the final barrier between me and a safe, dependable vehicle. How your support helps!

Every single donation goes directly toward getting this van on the road. Your support means:
• Safer transfers in and out of my vehicle • Reliable transportation to medical appointments
• Greater independence, stability, and peace of mind

If you’re unable to donate, sharing this fundraiser would mean the world to me!

Time is our biggest challenge, and every share helps get this in front of the people who can help make it possible.

Thank you for reading, sharing, and supporting me during this critical moment. I am beyond grateful. ❤️

May 2021:
I am raising money to fund my cousin Amy Wert's medical costs, as well as necessary travel and living expenses for her mother, Claire Wert, as she supports Amy during her recovery.

On May 8, 2021 Amy Wert suffered a burst C5 vertebrae in a sudden accident.  She was rushed to George Washington University Hospital, where she underwent emergency surgery; she is now intubated and beginning a long recovery in the neuro intensive care unit.  While she is blessed enough to have maintained her cognitive abilities, she has no mobility or feeling in her legs and only limited movement in one arm.  It is too soon to know how severe / permanent the paralysis is, but the doctors are hopeful she will regain movement in her arms, and less optimistic about her legs.  Even in the best case scenario, Amy is in for the fight of her life on a long, difficult road of recovery and rehabilitation.

To add to the pain that she and her family are facing, visitation at the hospital is severely restricted and her mom is only intermittently able to visit for a few minutes at a time — if at all.  Of course, Claire is fighting to be with her baby girl as often as possible, which requires her to travel from PA to DC which comes with it's own set of expenses and headaches.

Amy is a strong, lively, passionate, and determined young woman.  If anyone has the iron will to conquer this challenge, it is most certainly her.  She is a proud graduate of Iona College (BA , Class of 2015) and Elon University School of Law (JD, Class of 2017). Her rock is, and always has been, her mom so the extent to which Claire can afford to be by Amy's side, the easier and better this journey will be for both of them.  Amy is also surrounded — at least virtually, for now — by an army of friends and family who love her and are here to support her, Claire, her father Tim, and her brothers David and Matthew.

I ask that you please consider donating what you are able and share this with your friends and family. Amy and her family will need ongoing support — financial, emotional, and social — in the weeks and months ahead so please continue to keep them in your thoughts and prayers. While our family focuses on Amy and her well-being, feel free to contact Amy's cousin Julia Kundratic with any questions, concerns, or offers to help.  You can also find regular updates as well as ways to contribute or volunteer on Amy's CareBridge site: https://www.caringbridge.org/visit/amywert
