October 14/07 my husband Jim and I were crashed by Sorrento La. Mayor Brenda G. Melancon, while we were riding our motorcycle on Airline Hwy.   Jim was killed at the scene.  I was airlifted, not expecting to survive the crash.  My injuries included pelvis broken in 6 pieces, compound fracture of my right lower leg, 8 broken  ribs, punctured lung, lacerated kidney, broken hands and wrists.  I was left widowed, disabled , with a 2 year old toddler and a teen.    I was completely broken hearted and begged God to take me to JIm.   Jim was 41 when killed and had no life insurance. He left his 2 birth children and my two children, whom he was raising.  The insurance money I received in the civil case was less than 4 years of my husband's modest wages, and is what I have been living on for most of the 10 years.  The medical expenses I incurred took most of the money over all these years.
9 surgeries in the first 5 years, grief therapy and physical therapy, and I was living with  compounded pain conditions, and paying medical expenses and medications.
I weaned myself from OxyContin, Fentanel  patches and Oxycodone,  but was using Morphine  and Hydrocodone  as my constant drugs.  I tried nerve medications and a nerve block,  and alternative treatments to lessen  the pain.  Just to get some relief!
I did not know that the opioids were destroying my brain, my adrenals, my hormones, my stomach, my immune system and would spiral me downward, regardless of the yoga and meditation that supported me.
I did not know  that the physiological affects of long term opioid use was destroying my body's functions, lowering my pain tolerance, my cognitive skills, and increasing my pain. I pushed through as best I could, but my body was getting worse, and over the last few years, I especially experienced pain where no injuries were and thought I had fibromyalgia. I knew my arthritis and bone pain was extensive, like that of a 90 year old and I knew that the morphine was not working anymore, but found nothing else and no Doctor to work with me in New Orleans.  I was desperate for relief, and desperate to get off morphine.  I was diagnosed with hashimoto's disease and adrenal fatigue, all from pain and morphine.  Everyday was a huge challenge just to get out of bed in the morning.  My body was failing.
By the end of May 2017, I began to wean myself from morphine and live silently in excruciating pain.  I decided to withdraw from Morphine on my own, which was dangerous, and scary, but I had no other options until I found out about The Springfield Wellness Center in October.   Their treatment for opioid addiction and their pain management options were my last resort.  After being talked out of withdrawal on my own, I spoke with Doctors at the outpatient clinic in Springfield La. specializing in brain restoration therapy.  With 17 years of success in the treatment of addiction, I realized the clinic could help me, so I applied to be a patient.
I was accepted as a patient, so started October 16 for my first 5 days of intravenous treatment to rid my body of toxicity built up from 10 years on morphine.  I was extreemly sick during the withdrawal, but was supported by Doctors and nurses.  The treatment continues with 2 more days, this month as well as the use of compounded patches and nasal sprays of the NAD therapy that will re-introduce  NAD that was depleted in my body from the 10 years of morphine use.  Eventually, the treatment will allow my adrenals, and immune system to heal, ease the arthritis and bone pain, and through additional natural supplements introduced that I was previously not absorbing, and changes in diet, nerve medication, cognitive behavioral treatment for pain and continued visits each month for booster IV treatments to increase the levels of NAD in my body, the very cellular/molecular structure that has been depleted by the morphine over 10 years, I will re-invigorate the natural healing capacities of my body and brain.  I know my structural damages will not be fixed, and the metals inside will stay, but I am hopeful that the pain will be reduced and I can live a more productive life without opioids.
The Springfield Wellness Center agreed to start treatment before payment,  but reminds me that payment is due.
Each days treatment is $1,350.00.
I am on day 7 now.

I use the support patches and nasal sprays and I will need to use them for a minimum of 6 months while my brain and body heal from the affects of morphine.  The cost will be on between $300-400/ month.
The booster treatments each month are $850.00 each.

I am currently taking a break from teaching yoga, and am unemployed.   Although weak, tired, and in post- withdrawal from morphine, I am doing my best. I know the pain is less and not as wide spread in places that are not injured. I try to remain hopeful that improvements will occur, though slowly.  I have a new pain management Dr.  who has treated patients like me who are in treatment at Springfield Wellness Center.   I have many supplements to support healing.  I have my yoga/meditation practice to support my healing.  I take no opioids!

What I do not have is the financial resources to pay for this ongoing treatment.  I am willing to pay a portion myself, and am asking for assistance with a portion of the treatment, since the expenses of maintaining myself are for as long as I live.
This is a daunting task, to ask for help.

In 2007 when the crash occurred, the Kundalini yoga community and the motorcycle community came to my rescue.  They helped me without my asking, and now 10 years later I find myself still living the results of this tragedy and asking for help.
I would not wish this pain journey on anyone.
In humility and with gratitude, sincere thanks to all who can help.
