Update:  September 30, 2024
I am gradually and steadily on the path to recovery. Next week, I have a blood test scheduled, followed by a PET scan that I will arrange for the following week. On November 4th, I will consult with the colorectal surgeon to discuss the progress regarding the shrinking tumor and the options for a colostomy reversal. Currently, we have booked our return to California for December 22nd; however, our plans for homecoming will be clearer after we review the test results and meet with the surgeon in early November. Our lease for the rental property will expire on November 30, which means we will be facing another move in the near future. I kindly ask for your prayers that we find the ideal place in a timely manner. This period has truly been a journey of faith. We are incredibly grateful for the support of our family and friends, as well as our savings, which have all contributed to our healing process thus far.Update: After a span of 10 months since embarking on this journey towards recovery, we initially anticipated that it would require a maximum of two months. However, today we received the unfortunate news that an additional six months of healing will be necessary before we can reassess the possibility of a colostomy reversal. Both my colon and the accompanying fistula still require further attention and care in order to fully mend. It is imperative to ensure their complete closure. I would like to express my gratitude for the unwavering support you have provided during this challenging period. Additionally, there are some financial requirements pertaining to my left ear, which has encountered hearing loss. It is crucial that I undergo hearing aid fitting, as well as an MRI and brain scans. Your continued support is deeply appreciated.

Love always,
Amy, Brian and Joziah

Hello friends and family,

Our wounds are often the openings into the best and most beautiful part of us, yet wounds need to be healed. This is a time of healing for Amy. We recently found out that Amy is potentially battling stomach and colon cancer. Without insurance, testing has been slow and painful. But there is hope! We found a healing center in South Africa called LifeShine.

LifeShine Wellness Centre came about through a collaboration of like-minded doctors, holistic healers and individuals who have a vision and passion to create a unique healing space. This tranquil nurturing centre set in Stellenbosch is run by a team of dedicated and specialised staff, offering progressive protocols around the globe. This is a holistic, comprehensive, multi-therapy treatment facility and information centre for patients with immune compromised illnesses and chronic disease.

Amy, Brian and Joziah will be going to South Africa starting June 17 for 2 months to begin this healing journey. This process is quite costly, but we are confident that full healing will come.

The cost for the center, as well as, airline tickets, lodging and food are quite extensive. We believe it is important to walk this journey together as a family.

Thank you for partnering with us in this healing journey. Your prayers and support are a blessing to us.
