Help Amy the Chihuahua Get Lifesaving Surgery

I’ve had my sweet Chihuahua mix rescue, Amy, since she was just 1 year old. She’s now 17 — still spunky, healthy, and full of sass. She’s been by my side through everything in my 20s and now into my 30s. She’s not just a pet — she’s my heart, my world, my daughter.

Amy has always been incredibly healthy and well cared for. She’s touched the hearts of everyone who’s met her. So when a mast cell tumor appeared out of nowhere this June, my world was shaken. Within just two weeks, it went from 2 cm to 3 inches — fast and aggressive.

As soon as we got the diagnosis, I completely revamped her diet to strictly organic, and after deep research, I put her on a strict and detailed anti-cancer regimen full of supplements, natural remedies, and medications.

Still, the tumor continued to grow.

We were referred to a surgical consultation. The only real option left? Amputation of her entire leg.

It was crushing to hear — but the vet assured me this is actually the best way to move forward. He told me if Amy were his dog, he’d do the same. She’s still strong, still eating, still full of life. And if this tumor is left to grow, it will eventually take her mobility, her comfort, and quality of life. The amputation will give her a second chance.

The surgery is urgent. The tumor grows every day. It’s already causing her pain, frustration, and emotional distress. I see it in her eyes, and it breaks my heart. And yet, she still fights. Still gives tail wags. Still gives kisses. She wants to live.

So we’re fighting with her.
