Hello humans, I'm Amy (AMYoung). I am a 25 year old artist trying to make it in the art world and life. I have been doing art since, well, forever. I draw, paint, sculpt, sew, wire wrap, woodburn...etc. Basically, you name it, I either do it or have tried. Currently, my focus has been on ceramics because it is the most conducive to using many art mediums at once. The end goal is to be happy, making a living doing what I love and sharing my art with the world. I just need a little help getting there.
I have recently been accepted to Kansas City Art Institute as a transfer student. This means I have also recently taken on a financial burden of future debt. At this time tuition is around $36,000 per year. The goal of this fundraiser is to raise enough money for my first year's tuition, books, supplies, and rent. I am also applying for alternative scholarships, grants, and loans, but I'm hoping to make enough that I won't have to stress about where my next bill payment or meal is coming from during the school year. This would allow me to focus on bettering my art and education with a part time job instead of trying to balance a full time job along with full time school, while paying preexisting and future bills.
Because school begins in mid-late August, I am needing funding by late July, early August. I realize how quickly this will approach and I'm hoping this will become a reality. I can't begin to describe how much this would mean to me, being able to pursue a future I've always dreamed of but never saw as achievable until recently. In addition to that, it has taken a lot of intrapersonal dialogue to start this GoFundMe, to be able to admit I need help. BUT in return you will not only be helping me reach my goals in life, and supporting the art world, you will have the opportunity to recieve art works in return!
I am honestly more thankful than I could ever put in words. I am thankful for not only for the opportunity I am receiving by being accepted into KCAI, but everyone who has supported me in getting there. All the teachers and friends who have donated their art to my funraiser, and given me advice about my work for years. My family, who has put up with my, sometimes crazy, artist tendencies. I'd be more than thankful for every donation received because you would all be making this dream of mine become a reality.
