Amy's Angels
Donation protected
Be an Angel for Amy! Please bless the Bell family by donating any amount you can. Let's reach our goal of $10,000! This money will be put towards Amy's medical and travel expenses. Surgery is scheduled for May 19th, and the healing process and future check-ups and past procedures means they are receiving many medical bills. Not to mention the cost of traveling and staying in Denver. Help this little family not have to worry about money in a time they need to focus on health and healing!
Amy's Story:
In 2014, Amy, Brandon and Paxton were excited to find out they were going to be adding an addition to the family in September of that year. As the pregnancy progressed, Amy found that some things were just not right and began doing routine testing for different things that may be going on. It was finally determined to do an ultrasound on Amy's bladder, this test confirmed that Amy had tumors in her bladder. After a scope it was determined that these tumors were unfortunately abnormal cancer tumors. As you can imagine, the fear of the unknown set in, all while caring for Paxton and trying to stay healthy and stress-free for the baby. Extremely rare is an understatement, with only 16 documented cases in the World with this type of cancer found during preganancy. With this new information the doctors began extensive research on the best treatment for Amy and her baby. In May, Amy had a biopsy at 5 months pregnant to see exactly where the tumors were and the growth. In June, she had her first of three tumor removal surgeries. After the procedure the good news came that they would monitor Amy until the baby was born, then reevaluate and make a game plan. The Bell family was blessed with their beautiful, healthy baby girl, Loni, in September.
Even though the joy of a new baby was felt, in the background was the fear and anxiety of what was next. The second tumor removal surgery took place in October and just as plans were being made, Amy found out that there was a Worldwide shortage of BCG - which treats bladder cancer - and was put on a waiting list. The stress of the wait was ended when her doctor received one treatment in January. She had her third tumor removal surgery in February, the procedure went well and everyone was hopeful this would be the beginning of the end.
8 weeks after the surgery, another scope was done, which revealed more tumors growing at an aggressive rate. Amy was sent to a specialist in Denver due to this rapid rate of growth. In meeting with the specialist it was decided that the best course of treatment is to remove Amy's bladder to ensure the cancer is gone. The result will be that Amy will be cancer free ~ but the healing and follow-up for this procedure and future check-ups will be extensive. With this comes the medical and travel costs.
Anything you can give is greatly appreciated, know that you are blessing the Bell family by allowing them to focus on the healing and health of Amy, and care for their little family during this all, rather than mounting medical bills and expenses.
Amy is a fighter and has a ton of support and love around her ~ your prayers and well wishes are so appreciated!
