Amy Wynn Moore's Lifesaving Surgery
Donation protected
On Wednesday, January 4, 2023, Amy was admitted to Simi Valley Adventist Hospital where doctors quickly learned she needed emergency lifesaving surgery as she was coding for sepsis. Her gallbladder was removed by an amazingly skilled surgeon. I met the surgeon and she described the gallbladder to me as "completely dead."
Amy's family is without health insurance at this time. It was lost 3 days prior as her husband Don had tragically lost his job not even a month ago. He has been on several interviews and is applying to everything he can find.
Amy's recovery has been extremely difficult and complications have unfortunately arisen. Amy and her family are struggling greatly at this time. Because of the current situation, Amy has not even been able to mourn the passing of her father on December 11.
It takes a village, and Amy has built one in this community that I am desperately calling upon with tears in my eyes. Amy has dedicated her life to providing youth with the opportunity for creative expression and exploration. Amy has helped this city's children, for free or nearly free, for over 15 years by working in non-profit children's theatre through the Young Artists Ensemble and MATES Elementary. She has volunteered for I think over a decade at Newbury Park High School with the chorus and band programs. Every year, she babysits 4,000 kinds at once at the All District Music Festivals held at the Civic Arts Plaza. She is an advocate for youth who live with autism. She is a hell of a mom and a friend. I have had the pleasure of directing some of these programs with Amy over the last 15 years and I want to say: you have my word on this. Amy has given every part of herself to everyone around her and she deserves to be held at this time.
If you are in a position to consider making a donation to Amy and her family, I kindly and gently urge you to do so. The medical bills are outrageous.
I want you also to know that, through all of this, Amy is *insisting* that she come sit with us at auditions for the children's show she is directing with me. Amy responded "you can't get rid of me that quick!" when I gave her, obviously, the out - over and over. She is resting, and I won't make her work... that hard ;).
Thank you for being a village of people I am happy to call friends. Amy's venmo is @Amy-Moore-567 and the last four of her phone number are 2394 if you prefer to donate direclty without the fees.
