Help Our Mom, Amy Siegel

Donation protected
Dear friends, family, and compassionate supporters,

We, the children of Amy Siegel, are reaching out to you today with a personal request for assistance. Recently, our mom was diagnosed with a rare middle ear tumor known as Glomus Jugulare. This diagnosis has brought about uncertainty, and challenges for our family.

Mom's Journey:

In January 2024, Mom began experiencing symptoms of fullness and hearing loss in her left ear. After undergoing testing and consultations at UCLA Medical Center, the initial diagnosis of Glomus Jugulare was challenged by specialists, leading to further difficulties in determining the nature of the tumor.

The Complexity of the Diagnosis:

This journey has been marked by medical complexities and uncertainties. The tumor, initially thought to be Glomus Jugulare, was later reevaluated as potentially a schwannoma or a meningioma of the jugular foramen, both incredibly rare and challenging conditions. The gravity of the situation became evident when Mom learned of the risks associated with surgical intervention, given the tumor's proximity to critical cranial nerves.

The Current Situation:

As of now, treatment options have been put on hold, and Mom is in a waiting period. Meanwhile, she is experiencing significant symptoms including permanent hearing loss, balance issues, and compromised jugular vein functionality,

Seeking Expert Opinions:

In Mom's quest for answers and solutions, she has sought consultations with the Mayo Clinic and Vanderbilt University. These specialists have the knowledge and experience required to navigate the challenges of such rare tumors. Fortunately her current health insurance is expected to cover a significant amount of these medical expenses. However, seeking out-of-state medical opinions comes with its own set of expenses, including travel and lost wages.

How You Can Help:

We are reaching out to our community for support during this time. Your contributions will go directly towards covering travel expenses, medical consultations, and any unforeseen costs associated with Mom's treatment journey. Every donation, no matter how small, brings us one step closer to finding answers and achieving the best possible outcome for Mom's health. We are doing our best to estimate what we know her current costs will be in the next couple months.

Our Gratitude:

Words cannot express the depth of our gratitude for your kindness, generosity, and support. Your donations, prayers, and words of encouragement are deeply appreciated.

Conclusion:

As we navigate this journey filled with uncertainty and challenges, we find comfort in knowing that we are not alone.

With heartfelt thanks,

Jordan, Jon, Taylor, Bria, Zach, Cameron
