Amy Schiff's Cancer Relief Fund

IT TAKES A VILLAGE
A Cancer Relief Fund has been created to meet a vital need for our dear friend Amy Schiff. Many of you have been traveling alongside her from the beginning of her cancer journey. For those who don’t know what these last two years have held for her, this may come as a shock. It still feels that way for her.
We're reaching out to Amy’s community to help support her and Rod through the financial challenges caused by her cancer diagnosis in November of 2020. Her treatment, its side effects, and endless appointments have made it impossible for her to generate her regular income.
A constant community volunteer, you may have seen Amy on various fields or courts, coaching youth and high school sports. Perhaps your children know her from the hallways of their school, reading, writing and laughing with them. As a person trained in hospice work, you may have connected while she visited your loved one. In Amy’s words, “I feel blessed to have been involved with so many circles in our community.”
While Amy has been a steadfast warrior for her health and well-being, her physical and emotional suffering has been very real. Her community -- all of you -- has greatly helped alleviate some of her suffering. Now we are humbly asking for help of a very tangible kind: a donation to help Amy move through her cancer journey.
Our goal is to raise $100,000 for Amy and Rod to help fill the very real and large financial gap they are facing over the next few years, allowing her to focus all her energy on healing.
Thank you so much for considering donating to Amy’s Cancer Relief Fund. Your friendship, love and support are invaluable. Please consider helping her with whatever you can.
With love,
Lisa & Peter Stein
Please note: There is an option to add a tip below your donation. Any tip does NOT go to Amy and it's okay not to leave one by setting the tip to 0%. In addition, GoFundMe charges a 2.9% transaction fee. If you'd rather give money with no transaction fee, there is an option to donate through Venmo at @Amy-Schiff-2. Thank you!

A NOTE FROM AMY
Dear loved ones~
In November of 2020 I was diagnosed with Stage IV Breast Cancer. Yes, me. It has been 23 months of an Integrative approach to treatment, including ongoing chemotherapy, IVs, supplements, and a deep dive into my emotional, spiritual and physical worlds. All of this has been helpful, each in its own way, which often means supporting the function of body systems while chemotherapy does its job to destroy the cancer. For me, it’s all about balance.
I believe, as do my doctors, that this approach has been essential in keeping me alive.
Currently, I am in a clinical trial at UCSF which involves twice daily, oral targeted chemo treatments plus a targeted chemo infusion every three weeks. I strongly believe there is a star researcher on the brink of discovering the cure, and my mission is to stay alive long enough to receive such a cure with the healthiest body possible. And to hug them!
Doing that requires my continued commitment to reach beyond the standard medical treatment box and find ways to fully support my body to keep me functioning in the best ways possible. There is hope at the Cancer Center for Healing in Irvine, CA, where I will spend six weeks receiving world-renowned therapies to shift my health and provide a road map going forward.
I am not the first to say that my child has been, and continues to be, my greatest teacher. Whether or not I have been ready to receive, being Gabriel’s mama has graced me with the opportunity for continuous, blossoming love in live action.
Now I am asking for your help. My life is on the line, and I have more to give. At this moment I am asking to receive. The past 23 months have been an overwhelming overtime job. They have taken their toll on my livelihood, my spirit, and my retirement plans, as the cost of well-being is not covered by insurance.
And, the cost of love is priceless.
