Amy Platten Judo Path to Commonwealth & Olympics
Donation protected
Amy Platten has been very successful as a GB Judo player, her best achievement was to be the first GB player to win Gold at the European Youth Olympic Festival (EYOF) for 20years to cap her Under 18yr Judo career. To be able to do this Amy had to travel across Europe to compete on the IJF circuit. This was only possible with some sponsorship, the backing of her parents and a number of people that group funded her. All of this generosity had a major part in Amy being able to successfully compete with the World's best.
Amy now has her sights firmly on the 2022 Commonwealths and the Paris Olympics. To get there she will have to train with the best and compete with the best, with the aim of winning European and World competitions (the European & World Championships are funded by the BJA). For example, in addition to domestic competitions and training, Funding allowing, Amy aims to compete in 7 European Continental Cups (and train in the training camps held after each competition) and also attend a 3 week training camp in Japan. Each Cup costs around £500 and the Japan Camp is around £1800.
Amy sacrifices a great deal to compete and is always proud to represent Great Britain
