This GoFundMe is to help one of the most amazing women in Fairbanks, my dear friend, Amy (DeCorso) Parker. I met Amy while I was in college at the University of Alaska, Fairbanks sometime in the late 90’s. She and I became friends very quickly and she has been my rock ever since.
Amy born and bred Fairbanks girl. She graduated from West Valley High School in 1995 and then attended the University of Alaska Fairbanks, where she graduated with a BA in Psychology. Amy later completed her Master’s in Counseling Rehabilitation Counseling from University of Wisconsin Stout. After graduating, she worked for the State of Alaska Division of Vocational Rehabilitation as a Counselor where she assisted thousands of Fairbanks and Rural community members gain meaningful employment. In 2018, Amy left the DVR to open her own business, Alaska Vocational Outreach Services where she continued to assist individuals in the Fairbanks communityfind employment and develop job skills through her counseling services.
In May 2020, Amy was diagnosed with end stage liver failure, which is a terminal condition. Her survival depends on a successful liver transplant. Due to the severity of her conditionboth she and her husband are limited in their ability to work. In addition, the cost of medical care for current and future Out of State procedures are accruing. The funds raised will go towardprogressively increasing medical bills as well as general expenses.
Amy is one of the most caring, funny, and smart women I have ever met. Friends have started this GoFundMe to help relieve Amy and her family from as much financial stress as possiblewhile she fights for her life. I ask only that people give what they can to help this amazing family and give them some relief. I cannot imagine going through what she has these last two months. Through all of it, Amy has handled this devastating situation with so much grace and beauty. She truly is an amazing woman who now needs her communities support more than ever.
During this time things are difficult for so many. We should be thankful to live in such a caring and supportive community. I have seen our community rally hard to help so many families in need with incredible results. I thank you for any support provided to Amy and her family during this difficult time. Please feel free to share this on your social media platforms!
